First, I'd like to quickly introduce myself. My name's Peter Franklyn, I'm a UK based songwriter having taught songwriting in schools, in colleges and privately across the country. When I started out, I of course went to music school to learn my craft. I studied music and songwriting for 3 years at one of London's most prestigious schools and while the experience was certainly fun, it wasn't where I got the bulk of my songwriting skills. These songwriting courses can add up to thousands of pounds or dollars for a single years tuition and looking back...I'm not sure it was really worth it.

I realised a few years back that pretty much ALL of the techniques I use every day to write songs I learned off my own back AFTER I had graduated. The bottom line is, I believe you don't need to enrol in a songwriting course to become a great songwriter. All it takes is the right mindset and a few tips, tricks and tools to achieve your songwriting goals.
